Ethical and Religious Directives
The Ethical and Religious Directives (ERDs) for Catholic Health Care Services is a document developed by the American Catholic Bishops for two purposes: first, to reaffirm the ethical standards of behavior in health care that flow from the Church’s teaching about the dignity of the human person; and second, to provide authoritative guidance on certain moral issues that face Catholic health care today. Bob Voglewede, Avera Health vice president of mission, discusses the Directives in this six-part series of articles.
