Avera Queen of Peace Swing Bed / Respite Care

The Swing Bed Unit is intended for patients with short-term, skilled nursing care needs of approximately seven days. It is designed to be a temporary hospital care option for those who quality while other options are being explored. A physician may recommend admission to the Swing Bed Unit. If so, an evaluation is completed to determine qualification for skilled nursing care. Registered nurses provide care 24 hours a day.

Respite services are also available on the Swing Bed Unit, depending on bed availiability. Respite care is designed to give a break to the family member who provides care in the home.
