When You Can't Get to the Telephone, LifeLine Calls For You
Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center offers a personal emergency response system called Lifeline. This push-button system calls for help when a person can’t get to the telephone. In a home emergency, Lifeline users push a small, portable button, usually worn on a necklace, wrist or clipped to a belt.
The button signals a call center where trained professionals call the Lifeline user to see if the type of help needed can be determined over the phone. If there is no response, the staff person will then call the first person on a neighbors or relatives on the responder list to check on the Lifeline user.
Lifeline can benefit people of all ages and is especially helpful for:
- Elderly
- Disabled
- Handicapped
- People recovering from surgery
- People with heart problems
- Mothers with young babies
- Anyone uncomfortable living at home alone
