Dr. Michael Morris presents "Best Practices in Kidney Transplantation" for National Collaborative in Washington, D.C. in 2006

Because of Avera Transplant Institute's excellent transplant patient outcomes in utilization of donated kidneys from deceased donors, The National Organ Donation Breakthrough Collaborative invited Avera McKennan's Medical Director of Solid Organ Transplantation, Dr. Michael Morris, to present best practices and Avera McKennan's kidney transplant outcomes at its May 31st,2006, Learning Session in Washington, D. C.

Dr. Morris' audience included healthcare professionals from the top 308 hospitals in the nation with the greatest number of potential donors, along with transplant centers and organ procurement organizations including LifeSource.

The Collaborative's purpose is to generate significant, measurable increases in organ donation by helping hospitals to quickly identify, learn, adapt, replicate and celebrate "breakthrough" practices such as those identified at Avera McKennan. These are the practices that are associated with higher donation rates, which will serve to meet the Collaborative's goal of increasing donations by up to 1,900 per year.

Best Practices - Avera Transplant Institute is recognized as a leader in kidney transplantation!
