Our rehabilitation programs are offered at a number of different locations based on the type of service and the needs of the patient. Patients who need to stay with us for a period of time will normally be in the Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center building on our main campus. Therapy Inpatient Facilities
Avera McKennan Rehabilitation Inpatient Facilities
Our 37-bed Inpatient Rehabilitation Program is located within Avera McKennan Hospital. Our rehabilitation unit offers private rooms with a community dining room and social area. This comprehensive program provides specialized nursing and therapeutic services to patients affected by strokes, spinal cord injury, brain injury, congenital deformity, amputations, fractures, burns, major multiple trauma and other rehabilitation diagnoses. Patients are provided continuity of rehabilitation care 24 hours each day. The daily therapeutic environment provides program activities of skin care, positioning, functional mobility, ADLS, safety, bladder and bowel management, nutrition, psychosocial support, community reintegration and patient/caregiver education. Specialty areas include pediatrics, pressure mapping, aquatics, wound care, lymphedema and balance disorders.

Therapy Outpatient Facilities
Avera McKennan Rehabilitation Outpatient Facilities
Avera McKennan's Outpatient Rehabilitation Center offers a full range of outpatient therapies for pediatric and adult patients not requiring a stay in the hospital. This includes physical, occupational and speech therapy. Programs are available for treatment of patients with amputations, arthritis, neck/back pain, chronic pain and carpal tunnel syndrome.
Specialized programs are also available including chronic pain, hand rehabilitation and return-to-work programs as well as wellness services for the disabled.
