Joint Camp

Patients having total knee and total hip replacements can experience a new type of care with emphasis on education and wellness with our Joint Camp program.

Health Grades named Avera McKennan among the TOP 5% in the nation for joint replacements for the second year in a row!

We have a special wing where only patients who have had a hip or knee replacement stay. All therapy is delivered in a group setting among the patients. Along with therapists, each patient has a coach – a family member, friend or volunteer – who helps with the recovery.

Patients usually undergo surgery early in the week and are discharged to their homes by the end of the week.

Because patients return to their homes instead of another facility, collaborative care between the physicians at the Joint Center and the patients’ primary care providers plays a vital role in recovery.

After returning to their hometowns, patients may utilize outpatient therapy and home health services.
