Home Care Services
Our Home Care registered nurses are experienced and trained in current medical and nursing techniques. Our services include:
- IV antibiotic therapy
- IV or NG nutritional support
- IV chemotherapy/IV hydration
- Wound care, dressing changes
- Venipuncture for laboratory work
- Injection of medications
- Hickman catheter care
- Port-a-cath care
- Patients needing frequent assessment/treatment
- Ostomy Care
- Postpartum follow-up (OB Short Stay) or on physician’s order
- Diabetic teaching
- Health Education
- Emotional Care Visits
- Pediatric Care
Our home health aides also provide personal care services under the direction of our registered nurses. Some of these services include:
- Bathing
- Grooming
- Assistance with exercises
- Activities of daily living.
Homemaking services are also available on an hourly basis. They can assist with
- Light housekeeping
- Personal hygiene
- Meal preparation
- Running errands
- Sitting with clients
Other services that are offered through Home Care are Enterostomal Therapy, Medical Social Services, Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Nutritional Services, and Continence Services.
We offer many task specific options in our Private Duty Program. These services are offered on a private pay basis and are available for all age groups. Special care packages that combine multiple services can be purchased or fees will be assessed by task or by time spent in the home.
Home Care can assist in obtaining supplies and equipment needed in the home. Avera McKennan Home Care is certified by the South Dakota Department of Health for Medicare participation. Payment for services may be covered by Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance (if certain guidelines are met), and services through Home Care are charged on a per visit basis. Home Care is also offered on a private pay basis. All individuals are eligible regardless of race, color, creed, age or ability to pay. Home Care is accredited by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.
