Physical Therapy

Physical Therapy is a profession which develops, coordinates and utilizes selected knowledge and skill in planning, organizing and directing programs for the care of individuals whose ability to function is impaired or threatened by disease or injury. The HMHC Physical Therapy Dept. focuses primarily on these individuals whose potential or actual impairment is related to neuromusculoskeletal, pulmonary or cardiovascular systems; on methods of evaluating the functions of these systems and on the application of appropriate therapeutic procedures to improve or restore these functions.

Each patient is evaluated individually by a licensed Physical Therapist. Their follow-up can involve anything for a one time visit to place on a home exercise program with appropriate education to being seen for an extended time period to regain more functional strength or reduce pain as may be needed following a stroke, spinal cord injury or closed head trauma.
