Experienced Nurses

Specially trained nurses are chemotherapy certified through the Oncology Nursing Society and are dedicated to life long learning through continuing education. Our nurses perform assessments, administer therapies and provide education for patients and families.

Social Workers

Two certified social workers provide education, facilitate support groups and are available for individual counseling for patients and/or family members. Our cancer social workers can help in many ways including:

  • Helping you understand and cope with a new diagnosis
  • Facilitating family decision making meetings
  • Providing grief and loss support
  • Providing education about guardianship, advance directives and other legal issues
  • Securing assisted living or nursing home arrangements
  • Managing crisis or conflicts

Inpatient Unit

Transplant and Oncology Services provides a team of highly skilled nurses. 100% of the nurses who administer chemotherapy are chemotherapy certified through the Oncology Nursing Society. Fourteen of the nurses have also obtained their certification in Oncology Nursing (OCN). Each nurse attends several educational programs focusing on Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant.

The inpatient unit is the site for our Apheresis program. Apheresis nurses have undergone additional training to perform stem cell collections, photopheresis and other therapeutic procedures. The Apheresis program is a National Marrow Donor Program collection facility. We strive to provide genuine presence to our patients through both skill and compassion. We want the very best for our patients.

Pharmacists

Our dedicated pharmacists are experienced in preparing chemotherapy and other specialized medications. They also provide consultation for physicians and the nursing staff.
