The Medical Professionals Recovery Program at TLC Tallgrass

In collaboration, Avera Behavioral Health Services and Transitional Living Corporation (TLC), offers The Medical Professionals Recovery Program at TLC Tallgrass. This comprehensive residential treatment program was designed to assist regulated health care professionals who recognize and accept their need for intensive treatment for alcoholism/chemical dependency and interrelated personal difficulties.

A health professional may access The Medical Professionals Recovery Program at TLC Tallgrass through:

• Self-referral
• State Board referral
• State Health Professionals Assistance Program referral
• Employer referral
• Physician referral
• Any other health care professional and/or agency referral

Individuals may request admission to this specialized program if they:

• Hold or are under suspension for licensure/certification from a state regulating board and/or nationally recognized association for licensure/certification in a health care field
• Are persons eligible for and/or in process of applying for licensure/certification from a state regulating board and/or nationally recognized association for licensure/certification in a health care profession
• Are persons accepted as a student in a program leading to licensure or certification

TLC Tallgrass

As a facility provider for Avera Behavioral Health Services, TLC Tallgrass is a residential recovery resource providing a curriculum of deep immersion in the 12- steps of recovery as outlined in the text of Alcoholics Anonymous.

Each guest will be on site at TLC Tallgrass for a minimum 30-day stay where they will receive a steady and thorough indoctrination in the 12-steps in conjunction with daily presentations. During the course of their stay, each guest will have the opportunity to meet and share with other members of our local recovery community.

TLC Tallgrass's objective throughout the 30-day program will be to provide individuals with knowledge of their disease, where they are at within their disease and what they will need to learn to navigate early sobriety. TLC Tallgrass strives to provide a safe and secure environment conducive to learning, as well as strategies and information needed to guide their individual journey in spiritual recovery.

Avera Behavioral Health Service's Addiction Recovery Program staff utilizes a holistic approach towards treatment and recovery.

We believe that treatment services are most effectively facilitated when in accordance to a "hands-on, work-oriented, here and now" approach. Individuals are encouraged to incorporate healthy changes in their lifestyle while in the confidential and supportive setting of treatment. Our multidisciplinary team approach affords the chemically impaired health professional a variety of experiences carefully designed to foster sustained sobriety as well as a healthy, more productive and rewarding way of life.

The Medical Professionals Recovery Program at TLC Tallgrass is designed to assist treatment guests in regaining and maintaining productivity, health and esteem necessary to reintegration into professional practice.

The Medical Professionals Recovery Program at TLC Tallgrass, a collaboration between Avera Behavioral Health Services and TLC, is the only such specialized recovery program in the region designed specifically for medical professionals.

Specialized individual and group therapy sessions, administered by Avera Behavioral Health Services clinical staff, will focus on and address the unique challenges facing the professional in recovery.

Additional components of The Medical Professionals Recovery Program may include:

• Psychiatric consultation
• Comprehensive psychosocial assessment
• History and physical examination
• Psychological testing
• Physician-directed toxicology testing
• Access to physiatry/pain management services
• Couples and/or family counseling
